Redemption Home

Konica and Rev. Sue Willis

Konica
~ the first little girl to enter the Redemption Home

It all began with a night visit to the Sangam Vihar slums of New Delhi, India in
September 2008.

At this time of unrest and persecution, only a select group of the Women of Purpose India Missions Team could take the risk of walking through the slums. Pastor Koshy and Joicy of Carmel Community Ministries in New Delhi, India led the way until we came to a small, dimly lit shack with a blanket for a door.

We were introduced to a family who had recently lost their only son. As we all crowded into their 4 x 6 ft. home, God used one hug and a prayer to bring emotional healing to a grieving mother; and in the name of Jesus, their little girl, Konica, received healing for her limp arm. This proved to be more than just a visit, but rather a Divine Appointment of the Lord.

Two years later, during the Women of Purpose mission trip to India in February 2010, when Sue Willis inquired about the well-being of Konica, Pastor Koshy and Joicy informed us that Konica’s parents, financially unable to feed and care for their daughter, had sold her. However, God had spoken to Pastors Koshy and Joicy to intervene and buy her back.

Later that year, on May 31st, 2010, while visiting the United States, Pastor Koshy and Joicy asked to meet with Sue Willis. It was then that Joicy shared the burden of her heart concerning an intense desire to build a rescue home for little girls in the slums of New Delhi. Konica’s story was revisited and the prophetic word and vision that was proclaimed back in February over the Sangam Vihar slums were confirmed. Instantly, Sue sensed that God was calling her and the Touching The Hem of His Garment Ministries, Inc.™ to partner with Pastor Koshy and Joicy and Carmel Community Ministries to see this God-inspired vision fulfilled, planting a Rescue Home for young girls in the Sangam Vihar Slums of New Delhi.

And so, the “Redemption Home Project” was born, with a mission of rescuing little girls before they are sold into human trafficking and the sex trade of India. It will be at this rescue home that these little ones will be redeemed – spared the hopelessness of a life destined to slavery, begging and the brothels.

Sue immediately began to contact others, understanding from the beginning that, although Touching the Hem of His Garment Ministries, Inc.™ was called upon to oversee this project, it would only be through the combined efforts of many churches, businesses, ministries, organizations and individuals that sufficient funds would be raised to bring the Redemption Home Project to completion. Thanks to all those who partnered with us in this endeavor, within nine short months, land was purchased and construction is well under way and expected to be completed by February 2012. It has been such a beautiful thing to witness the coming together of such varied ministries, joining our hearts as one in this Godly cause.

The Redemption Home will consist of four floors with over 5,000 square feet providing housing for 20-25 girls ages 4-12. It will also include housing for the House Parents, a Medical Clinic, Counseling Room, Multi-purpose Hall, Prayer Hall, Life Skills Room where the little girls will be taught a trade, Play Area, Kitchen and Dining Hall, Laundry Facility, Bathrooms and Showers, Guest Room, Offices, etc. At present, Konica and fifteen other little girls eagerly await moving into their new home upon its completion.

The cost of building the Redemption Home is $148,000 U.S. Dollars. Additional funds are also needed to fully equip and furnish the Home as well as offset ongoing operational expenses. Once the construction of the Home is completed, monthly financial support will be needed in two vital areas:

  • Child Sponsorship
  • Monthly Partners

We ask that you prayerfully consider partnering with us for this very real need in our world today. We thank you in advance for considering the Redemption Home as a place to sow your financial seeds. Your giving will go a long way in making a difference in the lives of these desperately needy little girls of India.

Daughter of Scarlet

Brought to Jericho as a child by traffickers, Rahab understood all too well the despair and brutality of a victim’s life in the sex trade industry.

All she had left were a few frayed threads of hope to hang on to when two enemy spies took refuge in her chamber on the Jericho wall. She listened to their tales of a God who delivers slaves and cares for His people.

Through that brief encounter, God began to weave those threads of hope into a stout cord, strong enough to lift her out of her darkest pit of fear, doubt, despair, pain and shame.Visit the Author’s site
