A Time to Heal Beyond Survival™
A Time to Heal Beyond Survival™ is an intense, Biblically based, step-by-step 8-week** program for women who have suffered from the trauma of rape, sexual, physical, domestic or self-inflicted abuse. These are small-group forums with a highly trained team of counselors that each week deliver a pragmatic and detailed approach to help the participants (no matter the age or stage of the victim) not only overcome the effects of the traumatic events of their past, but also help lead them beyond their individual patterns of mere survival, and direct them to the pathway of restoration and abundant life in Christ Jesus.
**We know and understand that some women are unable to commit to an 8-week program due to their scheduling issues; therefore we also offer an equally effective A Time To Heal Beyond Survival Weekend Retreat. You either have been or know someone who has been through a sexual trauma. You may have spoken to counselors, been under a doctor’s care or never have uttered a word about your rape or sexual abuse. You may still experience deep fear, relationship and intimacy issues as well as emotional triggers.
Symptoms of Rape and Sexual Abuse Trauma
- Depression and/or thoughts of suicide
- Anxiety and phobias (specific and generalized)
- Anger/Hostility directed at self, others and God
- Substance abuse (alcohol, medication, food, etc)
- Self-medicating, pain management
- Denial of victimization, suppression or minimization: self-blame, shame and/or guilt
- Negative self-image/worthlessness, abusive relationships, extremely poor self-care
- Loss of sense of meaning, purpose, faith
- Self-destructive/impulsive behaviors; promiscuity, eating disorders, self-mutilation, revictimization
- Impaired relationships/sexual problems, significant trust problems, rejection of sexuality and sex
- Sense of being permanently damaged or dirty
- Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

A Time to Heal Beyond Survival is segmented into three specialized ministry groups that provide confidential and safe environments where girls and women may experience restoration, wholeness and healing.

A Time to Heal Beyond Survival™ Leadership Training Seminar
Leadership Training Seminars for A Time to Heal Beyond Survival are held annually at the Abundant Life Ministry Center. If you are unable to attend the seminar at our Center, Sue is also available to come and hold trainings in your area upon your invitation. A Time To Heal Beyond Survival partners with local churches, Pregnancy Resource Centers, and Christian Ministry Organizations to train and equip them to minister to abused women in their communities.** Miraculous breakthroughs, physical healings, recommitments, and salvations have come out of this outreach.
**Our ministry does not endorse independent functioning in A Time To Heal Beyond Survival apart from local churches, Pregnancy Resource Centers, and/or Christian Ministry Organizations, and will not be able to endorse the curriculum outside of this policy.
Qualifications for Small Group Leadership are as follows:
- Potential Small Group Leaders will be required to go through ATTHBS Small Group Training Seminar.
- At least one (1) of the following is required:

- – Credentialed Minister
- – Professional Christian/Biblical Counselor
- – Pastor’s Wife
- – At least two (2) years experience in women’s ministry leadership
- ‡ Potential Small Group Leaders without two years of leadership in women’s ministry will be required to be small group assistants for one year before taking the ATTHBS Small Group Leadership Training Seminar.

- – A letter of recommendation from pastoral or ministry leadership.
- – More than a general knowledge of the Bible and the ministry of the Holy Spirit.
- Will periodically undergo an evaluation to maintain Small Group Leadership standing.
